A click on a distant December's misty morning sans Sun. 

This view is from a point, where I have spent countless dawns and late evenings. 

This is a view of the famed old bridge - Laal Pul, Monkey Bridge, Hardinge Bridge of Lucknow.

This view will never be the same again, for the past is a long lost place. Also, because now, there stands another bridge between the place where we sat and the old bridge.

Was it necessary to make the new bridge and to cut me off the old bridge? 

Well, that is why I live in the past - because all my life is there!

As I have often written, the river Gomti in Lucknow forms a critical part of my memories and those deep meaningless discussion ashore. I progressively realize that I like water-less places a lot lesser than places with a river. Just as I like places with you, your presence, and your memories a lot more than those places, which are devoid of you. You are like a river to my existence - I can sit beside either (and ideally, both) a lot longer than places which have neither you nor a river. 

तुम हो बहती हुई

नदी की तरह 

गाती चलती 

अपनी धुन में 

बंध तोड़ती 

अल्हड़ चंचल

कमर की लचक 

मोड़ नदी का

मौसम का रंग 

मूड तुम्हारा 

हँसी की खनक 

नदी की कलकल 

मेरा मन बस 

बैठ किनारे 

मूक प्रेम से 

देखे तुमको 

शाम सवेरे

हर दिन हर पल !!!!!

हिन्दी दिवस पर अपने हिन्दी संग्रह को याद करते हुए एक उदास प्रेमी ने कहा था -

उसने फिर बरसाया ओले

उसकी फ़ितरत, नहीं खता है

रिश्ता फिर से करो अलौकिक!

थोड़ा चकित हुआ मैं, बोला

शाश्वत प्रेम का तुझपे असर क्या 

रिश्तों की गर्मी की खबर क्या 

फिर से उन आँखों में खोना 

मतलब बेमतलब का रोना 

जिसने तोड़ा मेरा भरोसा 

उसको न कोसा न बोसा 

अब जा पिघल, तू फिर से जल बन 

नदियों में मिल फिर बादल बन 

उसके घर की तरफ तू जाना 

तो उसको फिर ये बतलाना

रस्ते बिछड़ के फिर नहीं मुड़ते 

दर्द पुराने यूं नहीं उड़ते 

रखेंगे उनको यादों में

लेकिन उनसे अब नहीं जुड़ते!!
