सब सूखा है

बड़े अरमान से बीजा था 

मेहनत से उसे पोसा 

भरे थे रंग 

लम्हा-लम्हा कर के 

एक-इक रग 

चुन के बांधी थी 

कि हम दो पत्तियों को 

मिल के

इक-दो और 

बुननी थीं

नयी इक नींव 

रखनी थी 

नये वासिक शजर की 

हाँ  

वो इक पौधा था 

इक छोटू से पौधे से 

मेरे होने का 

रिश्ता था 

फ़कत रिश्ता 

नहीं था जो  

मिरे होने का 

बाइस था 

नज़र किसकी लगी 

के रंग बिखरे

हाथ छूटे 

हाफ़िज़ा-ए-लम्स भी 

बिसरा 

किसी इल्ली के 

खाये पत्तों सा 

उधड़ा 

पड़ा है आज 

कैसे 

रग-ब-रग

Demoiselle cranes are named such due to their graceful beauty - 

Demoiselle is French for Damsel. 

Cranes are a very interesting creature. 

They, like few very select species, make pairs for life. 

Not all pairs are made for life though... 

at least, not the ones that began today...

ये ऐश-ट्रे भरती जा रही है...

बहुत से आधे बुझे हुए दिन पड़े हैं इसमें

बहुत सी आधी जली हुई रातें गिरी पड़ी हैं 

Brown Headed Gulls

Brown Headed Gulls. What a headache they had given me... not while I clicked them here, boating in Sangam at Maha-Kumbh of Allahabad. Actually, when I wanted to zero down on the particular species, every possible source kept telling me that they are brown-headed gulls. My problem was that my old clicks had no brown-heads and that goes against the common sense as well as against the naming convention of species.
After hours of search and studying many sources, I discovered that the breeding plumage makes the male head brown in an otherwise similar male and female color-scheme. What a relief that was. Now notice that the brown-headed one is a male, surrounded by two females. What luck!

During one of my bird-watching walks

बच्चे

जन्म से बोझ पा गये बच्चे, पालने में बुढ़ा गये बच्चे

डस्टबिन से उठा चले रोटी, लोरियों को गिरा गये बच्चे

फूल जैसे सुबह गये घर से, राख हो शाम आ गये बच्चे

बन गया एक और शीशमहल, नींव में काम आ गये बच्चे

मकर - संक्रान्ति

आज मकर रेखा के ऊपर होगा सूरज 

आज से धीरे धीरे गुस्सा होगा सूरज 

सर्दी को रोने वाले अब जल्द ही गर्मी कोसेंगे 

आज से दिन का बढ़ता हिस्सा होगा सूरज
